A Few of my Favorite Things

Hello Cookie Monsters, it's been a minute since I've written a blog. This year I wanted to share a few of my favorite things that make my days a little brighter. They are also good gift ideas for your friends and family. These places are local to the Austin area but they all ship across the U.S.

I am an avid tea drinker. I drink it every night or almost every night. It's one of my ways to get settled and relax at night on the sofa. My favorite local spot is Tea Embassy. I really like this company. It feels like family ordering from them. One of the kids Abby recently signed off on my order in her handwriting, So cute! If you live in Austin you can pick up your order from their front porch. It's so Austin!

I'm also down for a good book. Jubilee that I wrote about a couple years ago is still my favorite cook book. It has history and great recipes. However this year I have a couple recommendations. The first is a devotional written by a my cousin's friend. A simple yet deep devotional that blessed my spirit during a doubtful time; Thriving in the Thorns by Brittany Dixon. My second recommendation is a book I plan on reading while taking a break this holiday, The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. A great place to buy your books is Black Pearl Books in Austin. This sweet bookstore is owned by a wife and husband.

My last favorite thing is a good local boutique. If you have some last minutes gifts to get, stop by New Origin Shop located in Bee Cave. This shop keeper Sierra has a great curated collection, from candles to those one-of-a-kind earrings for your fashionista friend (like me). There's something for everyone in the best way!

As I sign off, enjoy your loved ones, it's most important above any gift.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
